1977: Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee
During the summer of 1977, Queen Elizabeth II marked her Silver Jubilee celebrations throughout the UK and Commonwealth. Embarking on a large-scale tour, Queen Elizabeth II decided that she wanted to commemorate her Jubilee by greeting as many of her people as possible. Over the course of three months, she completed 36 counties across the United Kingdom. She also completed several overseas trips that year.
One stop on her Jubilee Tour included a visit to Trafford, where she visited Longford Park in Stretford.
