1902: King Edward VII Coronation

King Edward VII coronation was set for 26 June 1902. Due to the King suffering from appendicitis a few days before the ceremony and requiring immediate surgery in order to prevent his death, the King reluctantly agreed to postpone the coronation to 9 August 1902. King Edward VII was the eldest son of Queen Victoria and heir to the throne. Queen Victoria died on 22 January 1901 aged 81.
