All images may be subject to copyright law, in accordance with the UK Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988.
Under the terms of 'fair dealing' images may be used for non-commercial research and private study. The person using the image is responsible for any infringement.
Terms and Conditions
There are some restrictions on the way you can use images from the Trafford Local Studies Centre.
Personal, Non-Commercial Use of our Images
You may use images from Trafford Lifetimes and our online catalogue for personal, non-commercial use only. This includes using them for your own reference, including them in an assignment at school or university, for criticism, review or news reporting. Unless it is impractical, each image should be properly acknowledged with the credit line ‘Courtesy of Trafford Local Studies Centre, Trafford Council’. The credit line should also include the catalogue reference number.
Permission to Reproduce our Images
If you would like to reproduce the images you’ve ordered from us – for example in a publication, product or broadcast – you will need to apply for permission from the Trafford Local Studies Centre. Permission to reproduce or exhibit, and the charges payable, only covers the specific occasion requested. All further editions, reprints or reuse of the material will require further application, and are not covered by the original payment.
In some cases, we may not hold copyright for images or unpublished materials in our collection. In such instances it is the responsibility of the applicant to pursue permission from the rights holder prior to their application, and to submit the original, written permission from the copyright holder at the time of their application. The Trafford Local Studies Centre will not accept responsibility for any infringements of copyright.
Material supplied may not be passed on to a third party under any circumstances. We cannot allow the use of images on third-party websites where copyright or any rights in the image is passed to a third party (e.g. Facebook or Ancestry). We do not grant exclusive rights.
