John Rylands (1801–1888)

Entrepreneur and philanthropist, John Rylands was Manchester's first multi-millionaire. He was responsible for the construction of both Stretford Public Hall and Longford Hall. In 2009, a blue plaque was erected in his honour at Longford Park, in Stretford.
