Linotype Commemorative Mug
Dublin Core
Title
Linotype Commemorative Mug
Description
The Linotype machine had revolutionised the way that newspapers printed, creating a ‘line-o-type’ by moulding hot metal. The Linotype Company opened its factory to produce the machines at the end of the nineteenth century, when the Broadheath industrial estate was beginning to take shape. To attract and keep skilled workers, the company built a housing estate for its employees, complete with a cricket ground, tennis courts, a playground and allotments.
