Trafford 50
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Trafford Metropolitan Borough 1974-2024, Trafford Local Studies staff and volunteers have researched and written a series of articles that form this virtual exhibition. Covering a wide spectrum of the borough’s history, pre and post 1974, research has explored: Trafford celebrations and events; highlights from the last 50 years; how the name of ‘Trafford’ was decided, the Local Government Act 1972 and much more. A special family activity booklet has been created to mark this historic occasion that can be downloaded here.
Running alongside the virtual exhibition is a physically curated display of artefacts and memorabilia on display at the Trafford Local Studies centre for all to enjoy.
